Quirky, Farcical Fun to Kick Off CastAways’ 2026 Season

This April will see audiences delighted by a comedy play by Robert Scott and directed by Ian Dodd, “Above And Beyond”. Welcome to Smith and Jones Bookstore! It’s in the middle of nowhere with nothing for miles, except a curry house, and surely no one buys books anymore?!? However, this bookshop is not all it appears to be! Mortimer and Philomena run it, along with their typical teenage son, Alexus.
However, there is nothing typical about these three, nor the bookstore that is actually a hotel for visitors from thousands of light years away. Currently visiting is a serial “Karen”, Hoffenstoffen, who has nothing but complaints, lovey-dovey couple Mr and Mrs Blowette who may have a surprise in store, a hotel inspector to be feared in Rummage, Mortimer’s cousin Alf who just happens to be green, a famous TV host, Rezendeer, filming a reality series with her assistant, and finally two bungling government agents hunting for aliens, Dee and Ess… what could possibly go wrong!

To be performed at the CastAways’ theatre home at Holy Family Church Hall, Links Road, Blackpool, FY1 2RU. There will be two performances leaving audiences rolling in the aisles, the evenings of Friday April 17th and Saturday April 18th, with doors open at 7pm and curtain up at 7.30pm. Tickets are from £7 to £10, just click the button below to buy tickets.
