It’s family pantomime season in December… Oh, yes it is!

December 12th and 13th saw the return of Bispham CastAways’ ever popular family pantomime at their theatre home at Holy Family church hall on Links Road (FY1 2RU). This year audiences were shouting, clapping and laughing in the aisles during the fabulous Aladdin by Ben Crocker and directed by Debbie Flavell and Amanda Knapp. You joined Aladdin for a fun filled magical adventure as he bid to save the beautiful Princess Jasmine from the clutches of the wicked Abanazar! It included all the traditional panto ingredients – toe tapping tunes, a laundry-full of laughs, loads of audience participation – and a very, very badly behaved panda! It was a genie-us of a pantomime!
There were three performances and all audiences went home with a smile on their faces. The evil Abanazar was desperately seeking the magic lamp containing the all powerful genie, only to be told that only a boy in Peking named Aladdin could get it for him. Meanwhile in Peking, the Emperor of China and his hapless police men, Ping and Pong, were ready to celebrate the beautiful Princess Jasmine’s birthday with no commoners in sight on pain of death. Aladdin wants to meet a real life Princess though, and they fall in love but the Emperor catches them and sentences Aladdin to death. Can the Princess, along with Widow Twankey, Wishee Washee and Nobby save Aladdin and what happens when Abanazar sets his sights on Princess Jasmine? It was a great ride finding out!
