Hart’s Amusements and Witches on the Prom!
The strange sight of a green witch with a broomstick on a mobility scooter on the promenade in Bispham on Saturday the 20th of November, inevitably raised some eyebrows and caused some honking horns! However, it was all for a good cause… at this year’s family pantomime at Bispham CastAways, “The Wicked Witches of Oz” by Peter Nuttall, in order to improve and extend their work with care homes next year, they are trying to raise money for a wireless mic system and licence, so are holding some games and stalls during the hour before curtain at each of the three performances. The problem was, they didn’t have access to prizes for some of these stalls, until they found a friend in the owner of Hart’s Amusements! Hart’s Amusements on Red Bank Road donated a whole box and bagful of prizes, plus some sweets, to help with Bispham CastAways stalls and raffles at their upcoming pantomime and they couldn’t be happier. Cuddly toys, boxing finger robots and crazy bouncy balls are just a few of the donations. Sue Hope, a trustee at the CastAways said, “The generosity of Hart’s Amusements was truly amazing! I’ve been coming to this arcade since I was 5 and I still love it in my 40s, but for them to have given so much to our group, especially in the current climate, well, it’s blown us away. We cannot say thank you enough!” To find out more about Hart’s amusements visit hartsamusements.co.uk
Jubilee and a 101st Birthday!
On the Saturday of the Queen’s Jubilee weekend, Bispham CastAways, were performing at Glen Tanar care home in Bispham for the residents, staff, friends and family. It was a special occasion for the care home as Maggie, one of the residents, was celebrating her 101st birthday too! The afternoon started with singing by Hayley Price and assisted by Sue Hope, featuring “We’ll Meet Again” and “Is This The Way To Amarillo?”. After a short break, where guests helped themselves to barbecue and took a lucky dip on the tombola, the CastAways performed their short pantomime, ”The Princess and The Mouse” by Belladonna Mysteries. Great Fun was had by all and Bispham CastAways look forward to performing for Glen Tanar again.
